MAUREEN HALAHAN is CEO of the Orange County Partnership, which is a private organization that your County Executive Steve Neuhaus seems to enjoy spending a lot of time with even though it is not a Orange County Government Organization. Yet some how it also claims it's a non-Profit Organization...
"The Orange County Partnership has long valued it's secrecy.
Officials spout code names at public meetings to avoid revealing the identieis of businesses looking to locate in the county. In one recent case, the secrecty was maintained even after Orange County's Industiral Develoment Agency Grandted a Litany of Tax incentives toa mystery company intenton keeping a low profile"
-James Walsh Times Herald Record article dated May 30 2015
Maureen Halahan brings in over $220,000 yearly salary, not including Commissions. Maureen Halahan successfully brokered the deals that brought you the Fourth Largest Fracked Gas Power Plant in the United States to Middletown, New York with Steve Neuhaus's endorsement, of course. There was no referendum for the people of Middletown.
Maureen Halahan also brought you (Orange County) the United States Largest Proposed Legoland Amusement Park which wants to consume 524 Acres in the Historic Town of Goshen, NY. Phase 1 would require 140-180 Acres of Forest be clear cut and releveled for their parking lot which will be larger than the Galleria Malls Parking Lot. The 524 Acres Legoland wants Goshen to Rezone is all within the Otter Creek Biodiverse Priority Area and essential to maintaining the health of both the biodiversity of the area AND the towns two Reservoirs which are adjacent to the site.
Over the years, the specific site that Legoland wants Goshen to rezone has been the site of many failed development proposals. One as recently as April 25, 2016 where Goshens Town Supervisor (the same one who is now in favor of the spot zoning change for legoland) turned down a development zoning change request due to the negative impact increased traffic would have on Goshen's historic Charm AND.... (you might want to sit down) the scarcity of water....
We just thought you should know this
"The Orange County Partnership would be bogged down with a tremendous amount of paperwork, even though we don't handle any money. We're very disappointed in the decision. We know we're not a public entity... we were created by the private sector."- Maureen Halahan, in response to Judge's decision that Orange County Partnership must open it's books much like it's counterparts in Ulster and Sullivan Counties
